Trial periods cannot exceed three months and cannot be renewed. An employer seeking to terminate an employee must appear before a committee with jurisdiction at the Department of Manpower and Immigration. The committee has 15 days to decide whether to accept the request. The employer can then dismiss the employee, who retains the right to appeal the dismissal in court. Employees with less than 10 years of service are entitled to 60 days’ notice of termination. After 10 years, the employee has 90 days’ notice.
